There are many things that we do differently as a woman. One is that we focus on the others. So you put the light on others and you don't share your value because we learn to be humble, to really help others grow, etc. But we are not helping others or our teams if we don't showcase our value and get the visibility that we need, that our accomplishments and our team need. Whenever we connect, we usually connect at a personal level. Meanwhile, men connect on business right away. So remember that there are many studies that tell us that women will apply in the formal tool for a position. Men will connect in the cafeteria or any other, and they talk about what they want and they get those results. So understanding the differences so that we can play in the game fairly.
Debbie:So how do you coach women leaders to begin advocating for themselves more confidently in the workplace?
Karla:Well, it is about a strategy. And when we create that strategy for the board of advisors and how you are connecting, we create the elevator pitch where we include the strengths of the woman and the accomplishments as a leader, and also how do you get results through people as a leader? So you will be talking also about your team, which makes you feel so proud. It is a practice. So it is not only getting into those meetings, sometimes you just need 15 minutes. Put on your calendar. Let's connect on Fridays or Wednesdays. If you do that during the 52 weeks of the year, you will have connected with many people and it's providing visibility to what you are doing and learning from the other. It requires you to step forward and share your accomplishments. Feel proud of it.
